PTFE Coating
PTFE Coating
Why Use RO-59 Products
RO-59 deposits a thin, dry, firmly bonded PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) lubricant coating on anodized, plated metals, plastics and some ceramics. The unique properties of RO-59 are in its ability to bond to the surface of most substances at room temperature.
Heating the coated sample at 200°F for 30 minutes speeds up the complete bonding process. If heating is not available, then sitting for 24 to 48 hours at room temperature will suffice.
RO-59 is water based, has no VOC’s, is non flammable, is environmentally safe and is acceptable under the clean air act.
Special bonding properties provide chemical adhesion for long wearability and greater protection over
non-bonded PTFE and other lubricant coatings.
Simple application steps allow safe handling in-house vs. more costly outside coating processes. No need for high curing temperatures, or special equipment.
Apply RO-59 by dipping, spraying or rubbing a clean surface that water wets prior to application, as an indicator of surface cleanliness, then allowing it to air dry so that any excess will drain off the sample so as to give excellent cosmetics. Now either heat the sample to 200°F for 30 minutes or allow to cure completely for 24 to 48 hours at room temperature.
Bonding is RO-59’s unique and proprietary process for longer wearability and improved lubrication. The strong adhesion properties give superior performance.
Bonding is the chemical adhesion or “gluing” of the PTFE coating to the surface substrate material. It’s significant advantages are in both wearability and lubricity (excellent cosmetics).
RO-59 lubricant coatings support a wide range of lubrication needs where performance properties of hardness, dry-film lubricity, release (non-sticking), endurance and corrosion protection are required.
RO-59 formulations can be used successfully in most environments with it’s wide temperature tolerance range and non-reactivity with most chemicals.
The simplicity and safe use of RO-59 products can be successfully applied in-house with:
